Wisconsin is beautiful in the summer. That is no lie. My mom and sister asked me to accompany them to a casino on the other side of the river, in northern Minnesota. Now, I don't gamble, but I did have the day off, so I came with.
Road trips with my sister are always entertaining.
There is a city called Lake City, MN (inventive right?) that has a million sailboats and a beautiful lake. (Lake Pepin)
There was only one sailboat out that day. I guess that's what you get when you go to a tourist spot on a Monday!
We went down to the beach and collected rocks and sea shells. It's kind of a tradition with my family.

We spent the night at the casino with a crappy pool and overpriced beer. Mom had a good time. Cassie and I aren't gamblers, we both would rather spend the money on shopping or something. Funny thing was, Cassie found a $5.00 chip on the floor in our bedroom. Highlight of our night, I am sure. We gave it to Mom.
On the way home, we took the bridge over to the Wisconsin side to see the sights. Wisconsin by the river is all bluffs. That is one of the reasons I love where I live. It isn't flat and we are surrounded by coulees. Mom and Cassie wanted to stop in a town called Stockholm, Wisconsin. It was a beautiful, tiny, town. There are general stores and cute art museums around this cozy town, population of 97!

This town was beautiful, but is in danger of being destroyed because of fracking and when we bought some jelly and lefse, we also signed a petition to stop the fracking in that area. We already have had some fracking started and it has moved towns and made a lot of people rich. It's a heavy debate in this area.
It felt good to get away, but let me tell you, I miss my cats when I am gone!
Do you have cute areas like this around you? Do you like road trippin?
